Okay, so you found it : my leather journal. This is a record of my leathercraft projects as they are completed (or will be once I get the pics up of projects I've already finished uploaded). If you see it here, then the answer is "Yes, I can make that for you." If you don't see it here but you see something similar, then the answer is "Well, drop me a message explaining what exactly it is that you're looking for and I'll tell you whether or not I can do that." If you don't see it here and there's nothing even remotely like what you're looking for, then chances are you should look elsewhere or check back later.

For the most part, unfiltered posts here will tend to be rather mundane items that I can customize. For the more specialized items (usually alt-spirituality or alt-sexuality related) you'll have to get on specialized filters to view pictures.  You can get on those lists by responding here to this screened post.  Don't be shy.  I promise not to tell your mom.

For the record, any detailing you see on the items herein isn't merely painted on or burned in, but is fully hand-tooled in for a degree of three-dimensionality, and occasionally accented with specialized pigments or colors (accent colors are available in practically any conceivable hue, leather dyes are slightly more limited).  I'm not particularly interested in the simple cut and rivet mass production style of what passes for leathercraft in some circles and I have no stock on hand.  Practically everything I make at this time is on an "as requested" basis, and is usually customized somehow.  For the record, I can not and will not use copyrighted or trademarked artwork or designs on any "for profit" pieces, though you may see similar types of design on pieces I make for myself or as gifts for those close to me.

Also for the record, it has become apparent that I have to tell people right from the get-go "NO, I will NOT make you a wallet that says 'Bad Mother Fu**er'!" .... So please don't ask.

Hey! Remember me? I know, I know : I've been totally slack!

But if you were wondering at all, I have new stuff up on ETSY right now, with more to come in the near near future.

My final ship date before the holiday will be this coming Friday, December 18th, and I can work out a rush ship charge to anyone who wants to be sure to get gifties in time...

Teh Girlius Maximus (a.k.a. [info]littlesebastien) and I are at Dom Con Atlanta this weekend!

Unfortunately, I didn't have any sample wares prepared for this event. Most of the leather goods are about what you'd expect : simple cut and rivet, machine stitched stuff. There is a couple that's doing work more along the lines of real leathercraft, but they have a far more traditional western-style bent than yours truly. I dropped off a stack of cards on the con info table anyway; maybe I'll get some decent traffic and/or (*gasp*) some custom requests.

Things have been a bit slow lately, leather-wise. Finished a custom job for a friend of mine, and a custom job for ... me! The wallet I was using was one of the very first things I'd ever made and while there was nothing structurally wrong with it I have been wanting to complete the piratey ensemble going on in my midsection. Heh.

Things in the works : a selection of steamy style hip flasks, a couple lolita-y purses, and possibly (teh girlie and I discussed this one last night) a strap-on harness that reads "ABANDON HOPE". Heh!

Hmm... let's see .... what's been up?

Well, first off I had my first 3 sales through Etsy, and got positive feedback through all of them. This has been a bonus. It also allowed me to finally do a bit of re-stocking of materials in the shop. I'd gotten to the point that I was being kind of stingy with the leather and was making progressively smaller projects, which wasn't much fun.

Found a good online supply, though, and got in a crapload of fresh tooling leather. Twenty-two square feet, to be exact, of leather that WAAAAAAAAAAY shames anything I ever got from my previous supplier, quality-wise. YAY! I can finally do some of the projects I've been putting off! (like, oh, bags and journals fer'instance!)

CupidSlave tells me that they're almost ready to start putting me to work. Nice. Can't wait to have an actual retail outlet carry some of my stuff.

Oh, and for those who may be curious, here are two soon-to-be-wallets that'll be going up for sale in a few days. )

And for those of you who haven't already, drop me a line at www.beastlyleather.com if for no other reason than to get on my mailing list. I promise not to spam the crap out of you.

1. Finally got a domain : www.beastlyleather.com ..... not much there right now but a link back here, an email link, and a link to my Etsy account. Oh yeah, and a guest book; feel free to sign it.

2. Etsy : finally got a couple things listed here, but I'm not really satisfied with the pictures. Something weird about Seb's camera : it tends to pick up whatever the background color is and tint everything in the pic that color. Grrr.

3. CupidSlave : some friends of ours out in Newton county are opening up a tattoo parlor/retail shop. They're taking over the shop space from another tattoo artist who's been there for like 18 years. They'll be probably one of the only shops around that'll be able to admit minors since the entire front half of the shop will be retail, with a wall separating from the tattoo area. Their retail will feature their own clothing line and a limited line of leather goods crafted by ..... yep, me.

The downside is that because the raw materials cost a bit more than they were anticipating, they'll be having me focus on real no frills (read "no tooling") items with just their logo stamped on them, and as such I'll be making a pittance from them as compared with what I normally make.

The upsides : they'll also have a display rack with my other (more expensive) items, presumably on consignment; they'll be taking my goodies with them when they hit tattoo conventions and expos (as connected with their clothing line); they'll have plenty of my business cards to hand out, and will pimp me as being able to (on case by case basis) make a custom bag/wallet/etc. to match a tat; and finally, they're setting up a business level account with the local leather supply house for me to purchase raw materials at discount. That last one becomes a huge selling point for me, as the business discount is usually like 30-40% off retail and I might actually be able to afford to develop some stock. Huzzah!

This also works out for me pretty well because I've been looking at doing more tattoo art inspired leatherwork. Heh. For those to who such things matter there will also be some magickally inspired leather goodies forthcoming.
